Picked us up in Falmouth Cruise Port Yes! Excursion Ocho Rios drove all the way to the Falmouth Cruise port to pick us up! We were lucky enough to have Richard Brooks as our driver. I am writing this review a little late as our day with Richard was back in February. Richard was prompt. In fact, he was waiting for us to get off the cruise ship. For a flat, pre-arranged price agreement, he drove us to the Marth Brae river rafting experience, to the place where James Bond was filmed at an alligator pond, and to a beach. We laid on the beach for several hours, and Richard stayed by his van for waiting for us the whole time as was previously agreed upon.

Although he drove us to the alligator place as requested, my wife and I changed our minds at the last minute and decided not to go in, only because it was just too hot outside. So we left to go to the beach. It’s this kind of flexability of why going with a private taxi service is so much better than a group tour. You can come and go as you wish.

A very nice and personable man, a clean and modern van with the airconditioning working, and promptness. Although we hadn’t requested a van, it sure was nice to have one! More room to spread out on a hot Jamaican day.

Richie’s tours were the highlight of our Ocho Rios stay! As part of our two week trip to Negril and Ocho Rios, I contacted Richie via email in advance of our trip due to his excellent reviews on TA. I asked him about three separate day tours I was interested in doing, and asked for information and pricing. Richie responded quickly and thoroughly to all of my inquiries, answering all of my questions the first time, and giving me clear information. At the same time I sent an inquiry to Richie, I sent the same inquiry to two other tour companies. One of them did not go to a couple of the places I wanted to see, and another gave me much lower pricing than Richie. I was considering going with that person solely because they were well-reviewed also, but when I did a little digging, I found out the reason the pricing was so much lower was that the time he had allocated for the tours was for HALF the time Richie had – which was not nearly enough time to see the attractions I had selected. We decided on two of the day tours, and off we went! Because this is a review of Richie’s services, I will focus on our experience with him as opposed to the sights we saw – it was first class all the way! He arrived at our hotel exactly on time each day, driving a clean and roomy van, and had kindly picked up drinks for us, which were on ice in a cooler. He accommodated every and all requests we had, provided a safe and comfortable driving experience during which we never felt he was in a rush, and entertained us throughout both days with his jokes and banter. We laughed and smiled the entire time we were with him. The second day, he even picked up a bottle of our favorite rum and had it on the ready for our journey. We spent a very long day, and ended up running quite a bit later than we had planned for. Obviously, we paid him for the extra time he spent, but he never once complained that our 8 1/2 hour tour had turned into a 10 1/2 one! cruise ship tour we booked Richie after reading reviews on trip advisor, I have 3 teenage daughters and myself and husband , we wanted something that they would find interesting and fun. Richie met us at the ship at 8:30 as requested, we went to Dunns river falls and were the first to arrive, we did the falls on our own and he waited for us, we had such a good time that we climbed the falls a 2nd time, he waited very patiently for us. THe kids loved it, we then went to Scotchies for some fabulous jerk chicken and ribs and beat the rush. Great lunch. Ritchie then took us on a tour of ocho rios and showed us some sites and homes in the hills. This was very interesting, even the kids liked it. the weather was not great, however the sun came out in the aft and although we had arranged to go to the beach we were starting to get tired. Richie almost seemed disappointed that we said that he was going to have an earlier day. We had hired him for a 6 hour day and we had a great time. he was a gentleman , we felt safe and secure with him, we saw some great sites and we were happy that the tour was private and we did not have to wait for other people. I would highly recommend him, he brought us refreshments and was really very interested in showing us not only the sites but the culture. Dont hesitate to book your custom tour with him. Touring with Richard the highlight of my trip! Anyone can tour Jamaica but seeing it with Richard is a whole different experience! I booked Richard after sending emails to many other tour companies and his response to my request was the best. He customized it to my likes and he also had the best price. I didn’t want to do the tourist areas as much as I wanted to see the real Jamaica,the countryside and it’s lovely people and that’s exactly what I got, crazy country roads included. In fact driving those roads was an experience in itself! If you tour with him ask him about his “phd”. He will personalize your tour to exactly what you want to see and do and he will just take you and the people you are travelling with. From the moment he met me at my resort I felt like I had known him forever, he is very down to earth, funny and knows his Jamaica. I learned so much about his lovely country and the people.We had real fruit from the land, freshly picked and met wonderful people. Travelling alone he made me feel safe and secure at all times. We toured Bob Marley’s home as well, had lunch at Scotchies, (a must-do) went to the flea markets. I had so much fun with him that I just couldn’t come home without booking another tour on my last day. I only went to Dolphin’s Cove but just sharing some more laughs with Richard and kissing the dolphin it was a great ending to a great trip! On the first outing my camera’s battery decided to die but Richie had one and took an unforgetable picture for me. Then he surprised me on the last trip by having it blown up and presenting it to me, what a nice surprise. He also had a cooler filled with refreshments which really came in handy after the Marley tour and I tried Red Stripe beer which I must say was really good. I was really sad to have to say good-bye to Richie but I know I now have a friend for life. I will definitely book him on my next trip.
